Founded in 2007, GreenTree Music Academy is a Greenbaum family-owned and operated business serving all of Orange County, California. Sid Greenbaum has been recording, performing and teaching music for over 20 years. He has a staff of carefully chosen instructors who are professional teachers and musicians.
Over three intensive years, Sid studied acoustic bass, electric bass and music theory with world renowned bassist, Ralphe Armstrong - known for his collaboration with jazz fusion guitarist and composer John McLaughlin and virtuoso violinist and jazz composer, Jean Luc Ponty.
As a national touring musician, Sid played up to 200 shows a year, opening for musical legends such as: Ziggy Marley, Dave Wakeling, Bunny Wailer, James Brown, Blues Traveler and Spearhead. He has performed with Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow), Col. Bruce Hampton, Anders Osborne, and Michael Rose.
In 2003 Sid relocated to Orange County, California to work at the “House Of Love” recording studio, where he refined his music producing and engineering skills. He has written songs for the movies Something about Mary and KingPin.
Throughout many career experiences, Sid has always been in the role of passionate teacher. His dedication is to pass along the joy of music that was instilled in him at age nine. Growing up in Michigan, he learned to play the guitar and keyboards with his older brother Kenny.
Sid can be seen around Orange County with his wife Brook and son Forrest, performing in a band or mixing a live show at the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna, where he works with Susan Davis to produce a summer concert series.
